MISSION STATEMENT
At Silverside Counseling Center, our goal is to provide caring, compassionate, and confidential care in a changing mental health climate.
Our multi-disciplinary staff provides personalized mental health services to individuals, couples, teens, and families.
Each licensed professional in our group is trained in brief counseling and longer term psychotherapy.
We provide treatment for a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, life transitions (job loss, bereavement, etc.), and relationship issues. In addition, we offer comprehensive psychological assessments including evaluations of ADD and other learning disabilities.
We remain dedicated to the concept of choice in therapy, and encourage our clients to collaborate with us in determining their treatment. |

Meryl Brownstein

Meryl Brownstein, MEd, LPCMH, a nationally certified counselor of mental health, received her UMass graduate training in family and marriage counseling in 1983. Meryl provides care for adolescents and adults utilizing individual, couples or family therapy modalities. She treats depression, anxiety, and other difficulties that may arise during the course of one's lifetime. Meryl may use creative imagery, cognitive restructuring, and family of origin work to help clients move toward growth and transformation.

Jonathan D. Lewis

Jonathan D. Lewis, PhD, ABPP, a licensed psychologist and diplomate, earned his graduate degree at the University of Maryland, and has been in practice since 1983. He is the current president of the Delaware Psychological Association. Jonathan enjoys working with people dealing with relationship issues. Married to a psychologist, he has two young adult children who are just post-college. His hobbies include reading and listening to music.

Melanie W. Lewis

Melanie W. Lewis, PhD, is a licensed psychologist in practice since 1981. In addition to her doctorate from the University of Maryland, she holds an Advanced Graduate Specialist degree in Rehabilitation Counseling. She provides treatment for a wide range of concerns with adults, adolescents, school-age children, couples, and families. Melanie's special interests are children's learning challenges and issues of grief and loss.

Frances E. McInerney

Frances E. McInerney, PhD, is a licensed psychologist and has been in practice for 13 years. Before earning a PhD from the University of Delaware, Fran's interest in psychology and spirituality led her to earn a Master of Science degree integrating those subjects. Fran has four children and loves to play tennis and piano. In addition to working with individuals and families in emotional distress, Fran is also skilled in evaluations for Attention Deficit/ Hyperactivity Disorder and other learning disorders.
